Let’s Talk Illuvium: A FAM Favorite Web3 Game

The FAM guild is thrilled to dive into the world of Illuvium ahead of its global launch set for July 25th, 2024. Our guild members and streamers are already exploring this groundbreaking game and creating content that will help our community learn and experience the new adventures together. With excitement building, we anticipate a fulfilling and engaging journey through Illuvium’s expansive universe. Let’s dive into what Illuvium is and why FAM guild is excited for this new opportunity!

Illuvium is an innovative, decentralized open-world fantasy game that integrates blockchain technology with high-quality gameplay, built on Unreal Engine 5. The game is developed by Illuvium Labs, a studio founded by Kieran and Aaron Warwick. In Illuvium, players can enjoy four different gaming options: Overworld, where they discover and capture Illuvials while gathering resources; Arena, focusing on strategic, auto-battler combat; Zero, a city-building mode for managing land and resources; and Beyond, a competitive collectible digital card game based on Illuvials obtained. This variety ensures that there is something for every type of gamer, from explorers to strategists to competitive players. Additionally, experiences in one of the gaming options will have integrated impacts on the other game options!

Illuvium's ecosystem involves several cryptocurrencies, primarily ILV (Illuvium's native token) and Ethereum (ETH). ILV tokens will play a crucial role in the game's economy, being used for governance, staking, and in-game transactions. The game also integrates with Immutable X, a marketplace platform built on Ethereum, which ensures secure, scalable, and low-fee transactions for buying, selling, and trading NFTs representing in-game assets. This setup provides a robust and user-friendly marketplace experience for players.

In the current Open Beta, which started on May 28th, 2024, players can now engage with a test currency environment using test ILV tokens. Participants earn these tokens by staking, playing the game, and engaging in various in-game activities. The test environment allows players to get a feel for the staking and reward mechanisms, preparing them for the global launch. Players can earn points through playtime and capturing or fusing Illuvials, which are then converted into ILV tokens at the end of the beta season.

Rewards in the Open Beta are significant with a total of 20,000 ILV tokens allocated for distribution among participants. Players earn airdrop points based on their activity which determines their share of the ILV tokens. This incentivizes active participation and engagement within the Illuvium universe. The real-time tracking dashboard helps players monitor their progress and ensure they maximize their potential rewards. This phase also includes mechanisms to filter out inactive playtime, ensuring fairness in the rewards distribution.

We are still waiting in anticipation for the upcoming .30 patch release from BigTime and our next FAM meeting will occur after the update goes live. We aim to reconvene one to two weeks post-launch to explore new strategies and activities that will optimize our standing, especially in light of the expected character wipe.

Spotlight FAM Community Member: Jcluster

Jcluster's journey into crypto began during 2021 when he sought an alternative investment avenue. Fascinated by the potential of crypto and NFTs, he immersed himself in the field learning about tokenomics and the dynamics of bear and bull markets. Jcluster's passion for gaming and content creation opportunities later led him to explore Web3 gaming starting with Blankos Block Party. His Web3 involvement deepened when he was hired for a Web3 marketing opportunity in New York for a brief stint. This experience paved the way of his transition to a full-time content creator.

The primary attractions that kept Jcluster engaged in Web3 gaming were NFTs and the potential of player-run economies. His lifelong passion for gaming took on new significance in the blockchain space, where he could invest both time and money while also deriving real value. The integration of tokens and NFTs in games created a unique and engaging experience, making gaming more special and rewarding. This combination of gaming and blockchain technology provided a legitimate way to pursue his hobby while also earning supplemental income.

As a self-taught enthusiast, Jcluster navigated the early stages of Web3 gaming with limited resources available. He actively sought out opportunities to fill any knowledge gaps by creating YouTube and other recorded content while leveraging his online communities and forums to stay informed. This proactive approach allowed him to build a strong foundation in the streaming and creator world to keep pace with the rapidly evolving Web3 landscape. His perseverance in learning and adapting has been a significant factor in his success as a Web3 personality.

Throughout his journey, Jcluster faced challenges, such as finding confidence in promising projects while building his community presence. His experiences with various Web3 games like Decentraland and Sandbox taught him the importance of developer engagement and community trust. Eventually, he found stability with BigTime and Illuvium, where he could consistently play and create content that resonated with his audience, maintaining long-term confidence in these projects. These games provided a solid foundation for his community-building efforts.

Contributing to the Web3 gaming community has been central to Jcluster's growth. Leveraging his marketing background, he effectively shares content across platforms like Twitch, TikTok, Twitter, and YouTube. His involvement in podcasts, live streams, and guest-speaking at events like Rare Evo Denver helped him reach a broader audience and solidify his presence in the Web3 space. Initiatives like recurring segments, such as 'What's New Wednesdays,' demonstrate his commitment to keeping his community informed and engaged regularly.

BigTime and Illuvium have been standout projects in Jcluster's journey showcasing the potential of Web3 gaming. These games provided not only engaging experiences but also opportunities for meaningful community interaction. Looking ahead, Jcluster is excited about upcoming innovative projects like Ember Sword and the broader integration of blockchain technology by major traditional Web2 gaming studios. He envisions a future where mixed media platforms converge—PC, console, mobile, and VR—and the gaming landscape evolves to include player-owned economies and cross-game interoperability.

Despite his dedication to gaming, Jcluster maintains a balance with other interests. He enjoys watching anime, Star Wars, and Marvel shows and movies. His love for cooking, honed in fine dining Italian and Michelin Star restaurants, adds a creative dimension to his life. Photography is another passion, allowing him to express his creativity through side gigs as an assistant photographer. While he candidly admits to having a gaming addiction, these varied interests contribute to fulfilling lifestyle outside the virtual world.
