BigTime Tips & Tricks

Navigating the world of BigTime can be as challenging as it is thrilling. Here are some tips and tricks to help you get the most out of your adventure:

1. DPS, Healing, or Support: Within the current BigTime patch, Shadowblade and Chronomancer excel as top-tier DPS classes, overshadowing Tier 2 DPS classes such as Quantum Fixer, Time Warrior, and Battlemancer. Techblade currently struggles and needs updates to improve its effectiveness in both DPS and healing roles. Quantum Fixer remains the best option for healing if that’s the route you wanted to take. Support capabilities depend on class builds; for example, Time Warriors focusing on the Shouting Subtree or Quantum Fixers using the Gates Subtree can significantly enhance party dynamics. Its encouraged to choose your classes and builds that align with your own desired roles and personalities within the game. Do not let anyone dictate how you enjoy your time in BigTime!

2. Passive Skills: Passive skills in the game are designed to enhance your adventure experience indirectly. The metaverse unlock and the Minimap Fog of War Reveal Radius 1-3 are considered the most crucial passive skills for effective exploration and navigation. With early pocket watch levels, the DBNO (Down But Not Out) skills, particularly the DBNO Shroud ability which renders your character invisible, are useful in low level dungeons; however, their utility diminishes in later levels as the number of necessary active primary class skills and potions may populate the 10 available action button options. The Path of Pockets and Path of Hoarding are essential for players looking to expand their storage capacity for bag space, pocket watches, and materials, though they come at a significant cost each increase in these passive skills. As of now, the Path of Gladstone does not offer any advantages. Just because you have passive skill points does not mean you need to spend them. Passive Skill points will remain spent even if you do switch pocket watches and you cannot reroll passive skills (at this time); you may want to hold out while you initially level before spending these points!

3. Waypoint Importance: Securing all waypoints early in BigTime is a strategic move that can significantly enhance your ability to navigate its vast world more efficiently. Acquiring these waypoints quickly allows for faster travel across the map, enabling you to locate portals in sought out areas without delay. Until faster travel options, such as mounts, are introduced into the game, these waypoints are crucial for efficient movement. Players are encouraged to either run to these points or get summoned by friendly party members, especially when starting fresh or after a game reset. This effort will pay off by saving considerable time and making your exploration and progression smoother. You can find all waypoints in Times End here.

4. Know Your Vendors: In the BigTime universe, vendors may appear similar in shape and size, but their offerings and characteristics are quite diverse and merit attention. While some vendors might offer better prices for your items, others could carry special treasures like pocket watch gears or unique gear such as Ninja Pants. Additionally, the range of potions available varies from vendor to vendor, with options including small, medium, and large potions. You'll also find different types of portals, such as Town Portals and Summoning Portals, often at varying prices. If you're looking to purchase potions or portals in bulk, simply hold shift and click the item to buy a stack of 20.

Let’s Talk Strategy: BigTime .30 Release

The upcoming .30 release of BigTime will see the introduction of Epoch City, a new main hub set to replace Watertown in Times End. Details about what Epoch City will feature are still under wraps, but BigTime Studios has hinted at exciting new amenities such as the Bazaar, where players can trade for rare artifacts and essential supplies, and the Festival Square, the bustling main hub where players can gather, share stories, and begin their journeys. There is also speculation that crafting might become a more significant aspect of the game, possibly expanding beyond the current scope of NFTs and weapon gems, so keep a look out for these locations in Epoch City!

As players prepare to engage with this major update, they will first encounter a revamped First Time User Experience (FTUE) designed to introduce game mechanics effectively, particularly useful for new players. However, experienced players should also pay attention to the FTUE, as it promises to introduce changes that are essential for navigating the new content. Quick completion strategies of the FTUE for veteran players does give a head start, allowing them to access Epoch City sooner, where they can start exploring new quests and the broader world expansion.

For those looking to optimize their experience with the new patch, initially focusing on DPS classes and directing skill points specific to damage dealing will expedite progression through the FTUE. Once through the FTUE, the strategy shifts to exploring the new environment by locating and sharing waypoints with friends and guild members to enhance collective efficiency. Focusing on quest objectives is expected to be more integral to the game's storyline and player immersion in the overall experience in and outside of dungeons. Adapting to these strategies and understanding when to upgrade or start new pocket watches along the way will be crucial for players aiming to thrive in the evolving landscape of BigTime.

In an enlightening discussion with KillerSaints1313, we delved into his journey through the realms of Web3 and crypto gaming—a world where technology meets entrepreneurship and community. His initial skepticism turned fascination was sparked by the unprecedented potential of NFTs in the gaming world. Recalling his first encounter, he shared, "Well, after the first week of building my hero, it was kind of hard till I started finding friends to play with. Then the NFT came and blew my mind—people said you can sell and trade down the road. I was like, I get stuff while grinding for free? Time to grind!"

KillerSaints1313 emphasized the role of community and shared knowledge in his growth within Web3. Platforms like Discord have been instrumental, offering a space to connect, share strategies, and learn from each other. This sense of community has not only enriched his gaming experience but has also shown him the power of collective progress in Web3 environments. He noted, "The Discord was my best tool; communication with your friends, sharing experiences, and listening to what was working in the world of Web3."

A significant milestone in his gaming career was crafting his first rare hourglass in BigTime, which solidified his engagement with the game and demonstrated the tangible benefits of his investment and efforts. Reflecting on this pivotal moment, he explained, "When I crafted my first rare hourglass, I remember all the time it took to finally pull it from the crafter.. like all the time I grinded for the material then finally made this stuff into an NFT. And I will be able to use this NFT every day. I was stoked; I owned it—it was amazing!"

Looking to the future, KillerSaints1313 is optimistic about the integration of mainstream gaming with play-to-earn models. He anticipates that upcoming technological innovations, particularly NFTs, will disrupt traditional gaming paradigms and foster deeper community engagement. He asserts, "NFTs are going to disrupt the world of gaming. I feel like more mainstream games are trying to come forward to evolve to these play to earn models. I am certain there will be more reward programs in the future, driving the community engagement to different games."

Aside from his digital exploits, KillerSaints1313 maintains a balanced lifestyle, enriched by his son, his passion for billiards, and cross-country motorcycle trips. These activities not only provide a respite from the digital world but also imbue his life with diverse experiences and connections. He sums up his off-screen passions by saying, "I love enjoying time with my son; he is the one always teaching me and I enjoy continuing to watch him grow into a man. Also, billiards has always been close to my heart; playing, teaching, and tournaments. Aside from time with my son, riding the motorcycle cross-country is a huge favorite of mine these days — setting a destination and enjoying everything about the journey.. the people, the food, the different cultures you see along the way!" His story is a testament to the evolving landscape of gaming and technology, highlighting a journey that balances digital advancement with real-world fulfillment.
