Welcome to this week's edition of the FAM newsletter! Get ready to explore a range of new insights and expert advice with a new focus on some intriguing Web3 games beyond the BigTime universe. As our community flourishes, we are excited to feature another outstanding individual who contributes to its vibrancy. We will continue to cover a wide range of discussions and introduce different Web3 games as we learn more about new universes to explore. Let’s Talk WorldShards: A FAM Favorite Web3 Game

WorldShards is a sandbox fantasy MMORPG set in the floating islands of Murrlandia offering players a rich and expansive world to explore. The game allows players to engage in a variety of activities such as combat, crafting, farming, and puzzle-solving, all without the constraints of a traditional leveling system. This level-less progression enables players to develop their characters through diverse skills and attributes, providing a personalized and immersive gameplay experience. WorldShards emphasizes freedom and creativity, allowing each player's journey to be unique and engaging.

The development studio behind WorldShards is Lowkick Games, a team of seasoned professionals with extensive experience in both the gaming and blockchain industries, working to create a seamless and engaging experience. WorldShards leverages blockchain technology to enhance its gaming ecosystem, providing transparency and true ownership of in-game assets. This integration allows players to buy, sell, and trade NFTs securely and transparently on the Open Loot Marketplace. The use of blockchain also supports a play-to-earn model enabling players to potentially earn real-world value through their in-game activities. The WorldShards Token is currently not available but will appear in future updates.

Notable favorite features of WorldShards include its rich, evolving lore and strategic depth. Players appreciate the detailed world-building and the vast content already available to explore. Although multiplayer and in-game guild activities are not currently available, players are eagerly anticipating these features in future updates. In the meantime, the game's solo experiences and strategic elements continue to intrigue and challenge the early access users. Currently, WorldShards is in its Early Access 1 stage which began on February 26, 2024. To participate, players need to acquire either an Early Access Key or a Founder’s Island (both of which can be purchased as NFTs from the Open Loot Marketplace). Early Access players can explore and contribute feedback on new features as they are released. This phase is crucial for refining the game ahead of its official launch offering players a chance to shape the future of WorldShards while enjoying early access!

Other Web3 Games FAM Members Are Exploring

BigTime has provided a strong foundation for the FAM guild to build our community, but there are other remarkable titles gaining attention and offering exciting opportunities. Let’s explore some additional games that are capturing the interest of our FAM members:

1. Guild of Guardians: Guild of Guardians is a mobile RPG that uses blockchain technology to create a play-to-earn experience. Players earn rewards, including NFTs, through gameplay and can trade these assets on secondary markets. The game features cooperative guilds, strategic gameplay, and collectible NFTs, all integrated with Immutable X for gas-free transactions. It's free to play, with optional in-game purchases and the ability to earn premium content through gameplay.

2. Warsaken: Warsaken is a blockchain-based collectible card game that integrates Web3 technology to offer a play-to-earn experience. Players collect, trade, and battle with digital cards that are represented as NFTs, allowing true ownership and the ability to trade cards on secondary markets. The game features strategic gameplay where players build and customize their decks to compete in various game modes and tournaments. CitizenBuzzy says, “I like that its a really cool trading card game built on the Wax blockchain…Last year April my health took a turn for the worst [and] the Warsaken community got together and raised enough money for me to see a neurologist [so I love the community, as well!]”

3. MetalCore: MetalCore is a blockchain-based massive multiplayer online game that combines elements of first-person shooters and vehicle combat in a futuristic, open-world setting. Developed by Studio 369 and powered by blockchain technology, MetalCore allows players to own, trade, and earn in-game assets as NFTs. Players can engage in large-scale battles, team up in factions, and customize their vehicles and characters using these digital assets. The game emphasizes play-to-earn mechanics, where players can gain rewards through gameplay and participate in a player-driven economy. Captain_Atariman says, “Metalcore is a game that I have been waiting a long time for and never knew I was missing…It’s like MechWarrior and Battlezone had a baby!”

4. Sipher Odyssey: Sipher Odyssey is a Web3 game developed by Ather Labs that immerses players in a dynamic universe called Sipheria. Players can explore various dungeons, battle enemies, and participate in multiple game modes while engaging in a player-driven economy. The game emphasizes community and collaboration, allowing players to create and join guilds, trade resources, and craft unique items. Additionally, Sipher Odyssey incorporates NFTs, enabling players to own and trade in-game assets with real-world value.

FAM Guild Activities Update

Our FAM guild's adventures continue branching out beyond BigTime extending into various exciting projects. We are continually exploring, evaluating, and sharing insights on new opportunities within Web3 gaming daily. When FAM guild identifies a promising project and establishes a significant presence, we create a new channel in our Discord to coordinate our growth efforts. The current list of channels dedicated to supporting other Web3 projects within the FAM discord includes WorldShards, Guild of Guardians, Shrapnel, MetalCore, Nyan-Heroes, Night-Crows, Seraph, and BossFighters.

We are still waiting in anticipation for the upcoming .30 patch release from BigTime and our next FAM meeting will occur after the update goes live. We aim to reconvene one to two weeks post-launch to explore new strategies and activities that will optimize our standing, especially in light of the expected character wipe.

Spotlight FAM Community Member: YourNewDadd

In our conversation with YourNewDadd, we explored his journey into the world of Web3 and uncovered the pivotal moments and influential factors that shaped his involvement in this evolving space. His initial encounter with crypto began back in 2017 when his brother introduced him to crypto wallets, with Bitcoin being his first exposure and entry into the new space. He was captivated by cryptocurrencies and Bitcoin’s rapid growth but did not start playing or streaming any Web3 games until many years later. October 2023, YourNewDadd was introduced to BigTime by a community-favorite Web3 ambassador, DollieDaddy. YourNewDadd has been streaming BigTime at least two days a week since the introduction.

The unique aspects of Web3 gaming that fascinated YourNewDadd was centered around the market dynamics and the acquisition of NFTs. Despite his aversion to math, he found himself engrossed in learning the market. “Math is my least favorite subject,” he admitted, “but learning the market was a must after getting my first NFT and starting to acquire more.”

When it came to acquiring knowledge and navigating the complexities of Web3 gaming, YourNewDadd leaned heavily on various resources and communities. Streamers like CustomeTV were instrumental in his learning process, along with platforms like Google, Reddit, and Discord. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning, stating, “There’s no such thing as wasting time while reading more about the subject you are passionate about.”

As his engagement with Web3 gaming evolved, so did his understanding and expertise. He highlighted the importance of accepting mistakes as part of the learning process, which significantly enhanced his knowledge. “Reading and learning as much as I can has made me much more knowledgeable,” he shared. This mindset helped him adapt and grow within the rapidly changing landscape of crypto gaming.

Community involvement played a crucial role in YourNewDadd’s journey. He expressed how networking within the Web3 space was a new and enriching experience for him. Being a community contributor in the BigTime Discord was a notable milestone. “I have never networked as much in my life as I had since I started in Web3,” he reflected. This active participation not only enriched his experience but also allowed him to contribute meaningfully to the community. Looking ahead, YourNewDadd is excited about the future developments in Web3 gaming. He eagerly anticipates updates like the .30 reset and content refresh in BigTime. He is also enthusiastic about new advancements in other games like Sipher Odyssey and Guild of Guardians. These developments promise exciting new opportunities and challenges. “All these new patches and progression through development stages feels exciting every time for every one of these games,” he noted.

Balancing his gaming passion with other aspects of life, YourNewDadd emphasized the importance of family and personal hobbies. Video editing stands out as a favorite hobby, but his primary focus remains on being a devoted husband and father. He acknowledged the crucial support of his wife, who provides balance and enables him to pursue his interests. “My wife is my balance. I wouldn’t be able to do all this without her,” he stated. This holistic approach ensures that he maintains a fulfilling and well-rounded lifestyle.
