Let’s Talk OpenLoot: Gaming, Tokens, and a $293 Million Marketplace

OpenLoot is a Web3 gaming platform launched by Big Time Studios in July 2022. It aims to revolutionize blockchain gaming by making it more accessible to players and developers alike. Through its innovative Vault technology, OpenLoot allows users to trade and manage NFTs without the need for crypto wallets or gas fees, effectively removing many of the barriers traditionally associated with blockchain gaming. Over the past year of 2024, over 2.5 million transactions were made, over 1 million NFTs were purchased, nearly 2 million NFTs were rented, with a total volume exceeding $293 million on OpenLoot's marketplace!

The platform currently supports several games, including Big Time, WorldShards, BossFighters, The Desolation, and Shatterpoint. These titles highlight the diverse gaming experiences available within the OpenLoot ecosystem. Big Time, the flagship title, has already achieved significant milestones, such as surpassing $150 million in revenue following its game economy update in 2023. Other games on the platform continue to expand their economies and player bases, solidifying OpenLoot as a leading force in Web3 gaming.

A key component of the OpenLoot ecosystem is the $OL token, an ERC-20 token built on the Ethereum blockchain. With a total supply of 5 billion tokens, $OL serves as the primary currency within the OpenLoot marketplace. Players can use $OL to purchase in-game items, NFTs, and access exclusive features. Additionally, $OL holders enjoy benefits such as marketplace discounts, early access to certain NFT sales, and VIP perks that enhance the overall gaming experience. The trajectory of $OL has drawn attention, with many experts predicting the token could reach $0.90 to $1.00 over the next few years. However, restrictions in the U.S. may limit these price points. With its utility on the active marketplace, leading titles on the platform, VIP perks, and more, the token is expected to rise from its current position. OpenLoot Reward Points (OLRP) offer another layer of engagement for players. These points can be earned through gameplay, social interactions, and participation in events. Since November 2024, users have been able to convert their OLRP into $OL tokens at a rate of 100 OLRP to 1 $OL. This feature incentivizes activity within the platform, though players are reminded that OLRP points expire after two years, making timely conversion essential.

The platform’s VIP tier system provides added incentives for dedicated players and token holders. VIP status is determined by a user’s 30-day OpenLoot activity score and their average $OL balance. Higher tiers unlock greater rewards, including increased discounts on marketplace transactions, special airdrops, and access to exclusive NFT sales. This system not only rewards loyalty but also encourages active participation within the OpenLoot ecosystem. Don’t miss your chance to elevate your experience by climbing the VIP ranks and obtaining early-investor opportunities!

For U.S. residents, certain restrictions apply due to regulatory considerations. While they can convert OLRP into $OL tokens, these tokens must be immediately withdrawn to an external wallet. Additionally, U.S. users are unable to conduct marketplace transactions using $OL or receive $OL payments. Items listed by U.S. sellers also cannot be purchased with $OL. OpenLoot has expressed its commitment to addressing these restrictions and expanding functionality for U.S. users in the future.

Looking back, the opportunity to convert OpenLoot Reward Points into $OL tokens marked a significant milestone for the platform. Beginning on November 19, 2024, users could access the conversion feature via their OpenLoot accounts. The conversion process was straightforward, with a daily cap of 30,000,000 OLRP—equal to 300,000 $OL tokens. This update represented another step forward in OpenLoot’s mission to deliver a seamless and rewarding experience for its users.

As we move into 2025, OpenLoot continues to lead the blockchain gaming industry with its innovative approach and commitment to delivering value for both players and developers. By making complex technologies more accessible and offering real benefits, OpenLoot solidifies its role as a key player in the Web3 ecosystem. Spotlight FAM Community Member: GabberBeastTV

GabberBeastTV’s entry into Web3 gaming was sparked by a friend and fellow gamer, Incendar, whose influence set the stage for an exciting journey. "He told me I needed to play Web3 games about four years ago because you could make money playing them," Gabber recalls. Incendar, known for streaming Black Desert Online and running a gaming website, introduced Gabber to a life-skilling guild, where Gabber earned the nickname "The God of Alchemy" after securing the #1 Alchemist rank on the North American server for three consecutive years. This immersive and competitive environment laid the foundation for Gabber’s exploration of Web3’s player-driven economies.

What captivated Gabber about Web3 gaming was the sense of ownership and economic potential it offered. Unlike traditional games, Web3’s NFT drops introduced an element of excitement, with rare items sometimes fetching hundreds of dollars on the market. "The chance of grinding a game and getting a high-value drop is what draws players in," he explains. Gabber was particularly intrigued by the ability to directly control and trade in-game assets, a feature he sees as central to the appeal of Web3 games.

Gabber credits much of his knowledge to community engagement and self-guided learning. Twitch streams became a valuable resource for asking questions and dissecting the mechanics of various games. "If the streamer is good, they’ll answer honestly about the pros and cons of earning in the game," he notes. However, his journey wasn’t without setbacks. "I’ve been rug-pulled multiple times, losing money on projects that had no real game behind them," he admits, emphasizing the importance of researching player bases, market volumes, and game functionality before committing to a project.

Over time, Gabber’s Web3 gaming strategy has evolved to focus on early entry into promising games. His success with Lost Relics—earning $1,500 from just a $10 investment—reinforced this approach. "The real earnings come from being there on day one," he says. This philosophy led him to projects like World Shards on OpenLoot, where he turned a $2,900 investment into a net worth of $14,000. Despite technical setbacks, such as KYC errors freezing his account, Gabber remains optimistic about the potential of Web3 games to attract and retain players.

As a content creator, Gabber shares his insights and experiences with a global audience, particularly through his growing platform on Bilibili, where he has amassed 19,000 subscribers. His streams often focus on testing P2E mechanics, analyzing NFT drop rates, and engaging with his community about what works and what doesn’t in Web3 games. "I try to help players understand the ecosystem and improve their strategies," he says, highlighting his commitment to fostering transparency in the space.

Gabber’s perspective on the future of Web3 gaming emphasizes accessibility and meaningful rewards. He argues that games need to balance fun and earnings to attract players. "One viral video showing real earnings can bring a flood of players," he says, referencing the massive draw of games like Axie Infinity. For Gabber, Web3’s next wave of success will come from developers who focus on creating engaging, visually appealing games that don’t require players to grind endlessly for minimal returns.

When advising newcomers, Gabber stresses the importance of research and patience. "Don’t dump money into a game without asking questions and understanding its ecosystem," he warns. He also encourages players to seek guidance from experienced community members to avoid common pitfalls like rug-pulls or investing in games with no real player base. "A simple question to someone knowledgeable can save you a lot of money," he says, reflecting on lessons learned from his own experiences.

Outside of Web3 gaming, Gabber finds balance in hobbies like amateur astrophotography and skywatching, passions he’s pursued for over four years. He also dedicates time to video editing for his Chinese audience on Bilibili, where his content often goes viral. "I set aside one day each week to focus on video production and interacting with my fans," he shares. This balance between gaming, creativity, and personal interests reflects Gabber’s commitment to a well-rounded lifestyle, ensuring he stays grounded while continuing to inspire others in the Web3 space.
