Let’s Talk WorldShards: October 31st AMA TL;DWatch

The AMA opened with discussions about the upcoming updates in WorldShards, including several exciting improvements aimed at enhancing the player experience. One of the key updates discussed was the expansion of the in-game building system, which will now include the ability to add circular objects. This addition is expected to significantly boost the creative possibilities for players, allowing for more complex and visually interesting structures. As one of the hosts mentioned, "We wanted to give players more tools to personalize their buildings, and adding circular objects is just one of the steps we're taking to expand creativity." The hosts emphasized that these improvements are part of their ongoing commitment to fostering creativity within the game and giving players more tools to personalize their in-game environments. In addition to building enhancements, the team also revealed a new winter biome. This biome will bring not only visual diversity with snow-covered landscapes and icy terrains but also introduce unique gameplay variations that make exploring these areas more engaging. "Winter is coming early this year," joked one of the game leaders, adding that the new biome will make exploration more immersive with unique environmental effects. The development team highlighted their continuous efforts to enrich the game's environments, ensuring that every update adds more depth, variety, and enjoyment to the player experience.

A major focus of the AMA was the phased rollout of WorldShards' economy. The team explained that the economy launch will occur in multiple phases, with each phase gradually introducing new features like NFT functionality, token drops, and collectible upgrading mechanics. One of the developers explained, "We're rolling out the economy in phases to ensure everything is stable and players can get accustomed to the new features step by step." The importance of artifacts was emphasized, with details on how different artifact rarities affect gameplay, particularly in terms of luck charge, efficiency, and token drops. "Artifacts play a crucial role in how players progress," said one team member. "The rarer the artifact, the more efficient your gameplay becomes, which makes collecting and upgrading them essential."

The AMA also addressed the charging and upgrading of NFTs. Players can upgrade their items through the new crafting and charging systems, with higher artifact rarities yielding better efficiency and rewards. One of the hosts elaborated, "Charging your items properly can mean the difference between a successful adventure and a wasted trip. The efficiency of your artifacts will determine how well you perform in-game." The process of increasing the rarity of items will become available during phase two of the economy launch, allowing players to progress their equipment further. "Phase two is when players will really start seeing the potential of their gear," they noted, "as it will introduce the ability to increase item rarities and push their performance to new levels."

Questions regarding the game's tokenomics were a recurring theme. The hosts explained that the circulating supply of tokens will be limited, with a vesting system to control the number of tokens available at any given time. "We want to ensure that the token economy remains balanced and sustainable," explained one of the developers. Tokens will be used for crafting, upgrading collectibles, and accessing in-game features. The team emphasized that while the supply is limited, token spending will feed back into the game, ensuring long-term sustainability. "The idea is to create a loop where the tokens spent by players go back into the rewards pool, supporting the ecosystem and benefiting active participants," they added.

There was a detailed discussion about how players can expect to earn and utilize tokens in WorldShards. The upcoming "WorldShards Trials" event will introduce a leaderboard competition, allowing players to earn trial coins by participating in in-game activities. "The Trials are a way to test our token drop system while giving players a competitive edge," said one of the team members. These coins will test the token drop system and offer rewards through league-based competitions or guaranteed prizes for top ranks. "We want to make sure there's something in it for everyone, whether you're in the top ranks or just participating for fun," they added.

The AMA also touched on the integration of multiplayer features and future plans for player interaction. While multiplayer features are still in development and will come after the economy launch, the team expressed excitement about enabling players to explore and complete adventures together. "Multiplayer is something we're really excited about," one of the developers said. "Imagine being able to team up with your friends, explore the world together, and take on challenges as a group." Real-time collaboration and voice chat were mentioned as future enhancements to improve the multiplayer experience. "We know how important communication is in a multiplayer setting, so we're working on features like voice chat to make that experience seamless," they added.

The team addressed questions about NFT progression, emphasizing that a wipe is necessary to implement changes to the game systems. This wipe will reset certain aspects of the game to integrate the new economy properly. "We know wipes are never fun, but this one is necessary to ensure the new systems work as intended," explained a team member. However, they assured players that there will be no additional wipes after the economy launch, and rewards will be provided for early supporters once the game exits early access. "We really value our early supporters, and we want to make sure they feel rewarded for sticking with us through the development process," they said.

Lastly, the AMA ended with reassurances regarding communication improvements. The team acknowledged delays in updating resources like the game wiki and committed to enhancing the availability of information for players. "We realize that keeping the community informed is key, and we're working on making sure all the resources, like the wiki, are up-to-date," they said. They plan to keep the community informed about future updates and events, ensuring a smoother experience as the game progresses. "We're putting in the effort to make sure everyone has access to the latest information, and we appreciate the community's patience as we work through these updates," added one of the members of the panel.

Spotlight FAM Community Member: Duva

Duva's introduction to Web3 gaming was driven by his dream of making a living through gaming. "Everything started because I wanted to be good at playing Fortnite and make money doing it, the dream of every gamer years ago," he says. After countless hours of practice without achieving his goal, Duva decided to shift focus to investments. This led him to discover a video on TikTok about people earning money through gaming, specifically with Axie Infinity. "It definitely caught my attention because people were making so much money with that game," he recalls. A new opportunity came with Thetan Arena, and thanks to $150 lent by his cousin Diego, Duva bought his first NFT, officially starting his adventure in the Web3 gaming world.

What drew Duva further into Web3 gaming was the possibility of turning it into a sustainable lifestyle. He explains, "The idea of this never being a job but an adventure was what really drew me in." He found his turning point with Big Time, a project that captivated him by integrating crypto mechanics into gaming in a way that made sense. For Duva, Big Time was more than just a game—it was a commitment to something he believed in deeply, even when others were skeptical. "NEVER let anyone tell you that dreaming big is wrong," he urges, recalling how he ignored naysayers who questioned his dedication.

Duva credits a combination of Discord guilds, YouTube videos, and a strong community of like-minded individuals as crucial to his learning process in Web3. He stresses the importance of surrounding oneself with people who share the same vision and drive, avoiding those who do not believe in or understand your goals. Rather than relying on influencers who promise exclusive content, Duva values authentic relationships that help build genuine growth in the space.

When reflecting on his most impactful experiences, Duva points to Big Time. "It’s the only one I invested all my money into, and thanks to God, it has given me more than I ever thought possible," he says. His confidence in the project was also rooted in the involvement of Ari Meilich, a figure known for success in the Web3 space. This trust, combined with the innovative concept of blockchain gaming that Big Time introduced, gave Duva the motivation to stay committed even when others doubted him.

Community engagement has been central to Duva's journey. Although he hasn't participated in organized events, he is highly active on Twitter, where he shares content about Big Time and hopes to do the same for Boss Fighters. These two games are his main focus, and he aims to become well-known within these communities. "I’ve met some incredible people, and becoming known in the community is what matters most to me," he shares.

Looking ahead, Duva is hopeful about the future of Web3 gaming, particularly in making crypto wallets more user-friendly and reducing the costs of Ethereum transactions. He believes the future of Web3 gaming lies in integrating Web2 and Web3 experiences seamlessly. "The key is to be both Web2 and Web3—the transition should be slow," he says, emphasizing the importance of easing new players into blockchain gaming without overwhelming them.

For beginners, Duva offers straightforward advice: "STUDY Bitcoin cycles. Bitcoin is the father of all altcoins." He encourages newcomers to understand the fundamentals of market cycles and crypto assets, stressing that it’s a gradual process that takes time and patience. He also advises staying away from social media influencers and being cautious with investments, reminding beginners that this journey is about building slowly and thoughtfully.

Outside of gaming, Duva maintains balance by playing soccer three days a week and going to the gym four times a week. He follows a healthy diet, though he enjoys the occasional hot dog and Coca-Cola. Additionally, he dedicates time daily to learning English. Despite his busy gaming schedule, he recognizes the importance of staying active and healthy, ensuring he can keep pursuing his passions while managing adult responsibilities.
